Anyone? Anyone?
Just want to post this and see what kind of reaction I get.
You likey? You no likey?
Please feel free to let me have it.
Post anonymously if you want.
Obviously, it's based on my profile photo to your right.
I also looked in the mirror quite a bit.
This is my first attempt at a self portrait in paint....ever.
I'm trying very hard to loosen up and paint more quickly. It's a 2 day project so far,
oil on canvas, 24"X30" I'm having a hard time making it look like the cigarette has any weight to it.
I did say it's not done yet, right?
Like how I painted the wrinkles away?

It's my favorite of your paintings so far.
Thank you both--
I'm thinking I don't want to mess with it much more. Maybe a few more strategically placed strokes, but I don't want to lose the loose feeling, ya know?
Glad you guys like it!
This is really a brilliant work Anessa! - though I must admit, since I quit smoking over a year ago, the whole cigarette thing throws me. I have become one of those adamant ex-smokers that I used to despise so (of course, I now realize that it was only my brutal addiction that feed that hate - it was really my addiction that I despised). My advice is to toss away the smoke from your lips your work and your life (you too dear Mandy) and then you will not have to have concerns about whether it looks right or not in your painting and you'll live longer (which will greatly please all of us who have grown to love your blog so much!).
Keep posting the great work!
Best - Michael
Thanks Michael... I admire your paintings very much so and truly appreciate the encouragement.
Also, if it makes you rest any easier, I really don't smoke...well, that's not entirely true, but it's only on occasions when I have more than 2 cosmos in a row.
In fact, that's not really a cigarette in the photo. It's a piece of incense that resembles a tiny cigar, I thought a bunny smoking a cigar would be nice.
Guess I'm not so much of a bad-ass after all....
A true rebellious sort would probably have a real cigarette in the house.
Ha, ha......Oh well....
PS: I'm glad you quit smoking because I like your blog, too!
Yes, I'm hoping to use it in the show!
Don't really know how I'm gonna do a body of work around it, but I'd like to try.
I've only barely touched it since the photo...but I have now forbidden myself to do anything else to it.
Any ideas for what you're hoping do?
Don't smoke, eh? And I quote from the Love Jones show: "Gotta light? Damn... nobody smokes anymore." *har!*
The picture is... hot! It's some kinda David Lynch kinda hot...
mick
ps: having read comments, I must say that the "cigarette" is key to the picture. It's important contrast to the "innocence" of the bunny ears.
Thanks Mick!
Curse your keen memory from Love Jones night...
BUSTED!
Ha!
Anessa - its your best work ever! Maybe it needs to be added to one of your biggest collectors' collection. ;) is it going to be for sale?
CF + AF
Everything is for sale, darlings! If you are serious...and
If you wouldn't mind looking at my smug mug everyday I'd LOVE to sell it to you...(as long as I can borrow it for my November show.)
Just let me know if you think you might really want dibs on it.
