Open Studio in Lowertown
Tonight I had my first figure drawing open studio session since 1992.
I was really nervous to say the least,
but I think I managed to get a few good sketches completed.
Here's one that will not make you blush....
And if you feel like blushing...

Is that a cute model or what? Beats the heck out of the creepy old dudes we had at U.K.

how long did you have to sketch? because he turned out pretty detailed. and yes, he's much cuter than some ol' shriveled up dude. (sorry to all ol' dudes) the blusher sketch looks as though he is really just lounging right there. i like how you captured that certain melting into the chair thing that thighs do while sitting. and how his lips seem to say, oh yeah, i'm sexy, oh yeah. so was this at your studio? by open studio does that mean other artists were sketching as well or did you have an audience? explain to the noob.
Well, it was at Dancing Dog studio and gallery about 4 blocks away from me. 5 of us altogether...plus the model, from 5-8pm. $10 per session. So he made $50 for laying around nude for 3 hours in fron of a bunch of women (let me tell ya though, it's harder than it looks. I couldn't hold a pose that long) For the first hour we do quick gesture drawings...1-2 minutes each. Then we do a series of longer poses. The non-blusher to was 2 20 mintues poses, (i think) and the reclining was one 35 minute pose (i think)...by the way that link you sent me was great!
Open studio is no instructor, just do you own thing , no critiques, just practice and you can use whatever medium you like.
Very nice.
What a great opportunity, too.
